What happened to EEC Solar
European Environmental Controls Ltd had traded from Norwood Road, Southport since the e arly 1990s, latterly as EEC Solar and EEC Home Improvements. In July 2024 customers were told the company had ceased tradi ng, and it is now in liquidation (Companies House number 02563101).
Your system itself is unaffected: the panels on your roof don't stop working because th e installer closed. What you have lost is EEC's own aftercare and workmanship guarantee, and in some cases access to your monitoring.

- Manufacturer warranties on panels, inverters and batteries usually carry on, whoever fitted them. Have the make, model and serial number to hand.
- An insurance-backed guarantee if one was issued. EEC pointed customers to HIE S (0344 324 5242). Check your paperwork for a certificate and ask the provider what it covers.
- Your MCS certificate which you need for Feed-in Tariff or export payments. MC" "S keeps a record if you have lost it.
Common problems we see on EEC systems
- Inverter fault or no generation especially on older systems, where inverters are reaching the age they tend to fail.
- Locked SolarEdge or other monitoring because the system was registered to EEC's installer ac count. We can help get it moved so you can see your generation again.
- Battery switching off or not charging including batteries added after the panels were fitte d.
- Lower generation than it used to be from shading, dirty or damaged panels, wiring faults or p igeons nesting underneath.
- Missing paperwork such as the handover pack, MCS certificate or warranty documents.

Has EEC Solar gone bust?
European Environmental Controls Ltd, which traded as EEC Solar and EEC Home Improvem ents from Southport, told customers in July 2024 that it had ceased trading, and Companies House lists the company (number 02563101) as in liquidation. It can no longer carry out repairs or honour its own workmanship guarantee.
Who do I call now my EEC system has a fault?
Call us on 01492 550 086, any time. We repair and look after sol ar PV and battery systems that other companies installed, including EEC systems, and we offer a free home visit to find th e fault.
Is my EEC system still under warranty?
Possibly. Manufacturer warranties on panels, inverters and batteries a re separate from the installer and usually carry on. If your paperwork includes an insurance-backed guarantee, check what it covers with the provider named on the certificate. We can help you work out what still applies.
EEC locked my SolarEdge monitoring. Can you help?
Often, yes. If your system was registered under EEC's inst aller account you may only see limited information, or none. Manufacturers such as SolarEdge can usually move a site to a new installer account. We can help arrange this so you, and we, can see how your system is performing.
Do you cover Southport?
Yes. Our Colwyn Bay team covers North Wales, the Wirral and Cheshire, and we also vis it EEC customers in Southport, Sefton and across Merseyside. The free home visit applies across the whole area.
I can't find my MCS certificate. Does that matter?
You need it for Feed-in Tariff or Smart Export Guarantee payments and when you sell your home. MCS keeps a record of certified installations, so a copy can usually be traced even if the installer has gone. We can point you in the right direction.
